Introduction: This article analyzes some forms of mistreatment and violation of the human, sexual and reproductive rights of women during the pregnancy, delivery and childbirth care, phenomenon known as obstetric violence. Development: It analyzes the pregnancy/childbirth histories of six women who gave birth their children in public and private hospitals, as well as the auto-ethnography of the two pregnancies/delivery of the author; to analyze the ways in which women describe and give meaning to their experiences of obstetric violence during their delivery care.
